CHAMPAIGN - Anni Paula Bohlen (nee Foeller) passed away on March 13, 2025, in Champaign.Anni was born on June 9, 1936, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Georg and Bernardina Foeller (nee Peter), the fourth of six children. She grew up in the Frankfurt area and during the height of WWII and the bombing of Frankfurt and surrounding areas, was evacuated to the countryside along with her brothers and sisters.Anni met her former husband and father of their children, Edward Samuel Bohlen, in 1956 while Ed was in the U.S. Army and stationed in Frankfurt. They married in Germany and when Ed completed his tour of duty, the couple moved back to Urbana where Ed grew up. Anni was welcomed by Ed's large family and they went on to have five children.After her children were all in school, Anni went to Parkland College and graduated with her RN nursing degree.
