FLATVILLE - Marilyn Grace (Johnson) Fitch, 84, of San Diego sadly departed on Wednesday, Aug. 14,2024, after a long battle with a neurodegenerative condition.Marilyn was born on May 23, 1940, to John and Christina Johnson, in Champaign. She and her older brother, Arnold, grew up together on the family farm in Flatville. After Marilyn graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1958, she went to work at the University of Illinois. During this time, she met the man she would later marry in 1961, Calvin Fitch.Marilyn and Calvin went on to have a son, Brian Fitch. After Calvin graduated from the university, the family moved to San Diego, where Marilyn was blessed with a long and happy life. She spent many years working as a bookkeeper, a job she greatly enjoyed. But she also stayed active with a large network of friends, including her numerous sorority sisters.
