CHAMPAIGN - Glenn Morrison, 76, passed away Saturday (June 29, 2024) surrounded by his family, who loved him dearly.He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Laura; daughter Leslie; and sister, Jean Freeborn.He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Emily.Glenn was born in Philadelphia on March 5, 1948. He spent his childhood in Newark, Del., and Seaford, N.Y. He arrived in the Midwest for college at the University of Missouri in Columbia, earning bachelor's and master's degrees. He and Laura met while he was working at the School for Independent Study there. They married in 1978 and moved to Urbana in 1979. Although his high school guidance counselor discouraged him from pursuing a literary career because he was a mediocre speller, Glenn was a successful freelance editor and writer.Glenn was a sports fan, especially cheering on the Illini volleyball and basketball teams.
