SUN CITY, Calif. - Catherine Jo Brittingham, 68, of Georgetown passed away Friday, June 21, 2024.  Born in Marion on Nov. 27, 1955, Cathy grew up on Stone Street in Georgetown, the daughter of Joan E. (Wodetzki) Brittingham and Jerry M. Brittingham. She attended Georgetown High School, graduating in 1973.Always strong and fiercely independent, on her 18th birthday, Cathy moved to New York City with a small suitcase and no place to live. In the big apple, she briefly found a home with cousin Roger Cunningham (son of Ethel and Carl Cunningham, late, of Georgetown). Cathy made her way by working at a publishing company for a few years before returning to the Midwest. She moved to Champaign, where she graduated from Parkland College, working her way through as a waitress. Thereafter, Cathy headed west, settling in Portland, Ore., where she continued her wait staff jobs while obtaining her B.S. and M.S. in mathematics and her teaching certificate from Portland State University.
