MAPLETON - Surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, L. Lowell Ray passed away at 12:01 a.m. Monday (June 12, 2023).Lowell was born on July 17, 1951, the son of Lionel L. (Bus) and Elizabeth (Strader) Ray, in Kankakee. He grew up in Oakwood.He was preceded in death by his mother and father.Lowell was a 1970 graduate of Oakwood High School. His marriage to the former Margaret (Meg) McNamara took place on July 17, 1976, in Litchfield.In addition to his wife, Meg, Lowell is survived by two sons, Brian (Jaimie) of Denver and Philip (Whitney) of Bloomington; and four granddaughters, Elin, Ryann, Indie and Adley Ray, all of Bloomington. Lowell also leaves a sister, Susie (Mark) Willard of Rossville, and many nephews and nieces.Lowell served as a former service manager and was a longtime employee of the Pitney Bowes Peoria district office.Lowell was a devoted husband and father and an accomplished lead guitarist who played in the following bands: Nightriders, Society's Child and W
